Was ist eine variable "Variant"

Aha! Sowas habe ich mir auch schon in der art gedacht ich hatte nuur zuwenig ahnung von com-objekten (eigentlich garkeine).
Das heisst ich setzte einen excel-server ("ExcelWorksheet") auf die form und gebe bei der funktion als "excel", "ExcelWorksheet1" an?

Delphi-Quellcode:

ads_excel.ExcelCopyToStringGrid(ExcelWorksheet1,1,1,10,5,Stringgrid1,1,1,true,true)

Das geht nicht!:

so wurde es wohl eher richtig sein :

Excel : ExcelWorksheet1.?

Kann mir jemand einen tipp für das fragezeichen geben?
