There is many tools to convert Disks to V-Disks in every format, also there is tools to convert between such formats, just search for the format itself.

As example i use this from Microsoft to handle Hyper-V disks

They all are customizable !, talking about boot mangers, they all can have menus and run scripts, so all you have to do is make two scripts to create/clone and restore or boot from .

On all my devices i use/used EasyBCD to adjust the boot and replace the UEFI default one, now i use GRUB which is also customizable, and have very nice feature witch is boot from an ISO image on local disk !
My recovery flash is also support booting from ISO so i have multiple ISO on the flash where i can boot from any of them.

Fun fact : my Android mobile is rooted with Magisk and installed a module (there is two i think) that unlock the power of using the mobile as bootable USB ( in fact mine doesn't support USB boot, but only CD-ROM) ,in all cases i have few ISO's images on the mobile SDCARD include linux live CD, Acronis, MiniTool Partition.... and i can boot any PC from my USB connected mobile. :)

Naja, man könnte eine VM so vorbereiten, dass die Plattengröße passt, dann in dieser VM das Imaging-Programm starten und das Backup auf die virtuelle Platte spielen.

Das funktioniert bei aktuellen Betriebssystemen ... meistens.

Ich habe seit Jahren beste Erfahrungen mit Drivesnapshot gemacht.
Keine Installation notwendig, läuft aus dem CMD-Prompt des Windows-Installations-USB-Stick,
stellt auf Wunsche alle Partitionen wieder her, bietet Verschlüsselung, Kompression und Mouten von Images,
und lässt sich in nahezu allen Details per Commandlineswitches steuern (sowohl Backup als auch Restore).
Besteht aus nur einem File und findet überall Platz.
Läuft von Win7 bis WinServer2022, incl. benachrichtigung aller Writer. D.h. auch das Abschneiden der Logdateien
eines Exchange ist kein Problem.

Ich habe das bei einigen Kunden seit Jahren im Einsatz. Bisher zu meiner vollsten Zurfiedenheit.

Ich nehme an, es wird eine Linux-Kiosk-Sache installiert?
Weiter oben wurde ja schon über Netzwerk installieren gesprochen, da ging es aber um Windows.

Aber auch Linux lässt sich über PXE verteilen.
Dann kann man den USB-Stick auch nicht verlieren!
