Ribbon-Controls (Office 2007 GUI) und Lizenzvereinbarung

Basierent auf diesem Thread ist mir (wieder mal) aufgefallen das MS einen zwingen will bei Verwendung von Ribbon-Controls eine Lizenzvereinbarung mit MS zu unterschreiben.

Was bedeutet es für den Entwickler/das eigene Produkt?

Auszug aus den License Agreement:

Zitat:

“Licensed Products” means your software applications or tools products that include a Licensed UI and are not Excluded Products. Licensed Products must be registered with Microsoft at http://msdn.microsoft.com/officeui.

sowie

Zitat:

...If Microsoft notifies you that the Design Guidelines have been updated or that you are not complying with the Design Guidelines, you will make the necessary changes to comply as soon as you reasonably can, but no later than your next product release that is 6 months or more from the date you receive notice.

Was ist wenn irgendwann MS eine Produkt entwickelt bzw. ein schon bestehendes "Excluded Product" (Word, Excel, ...) soweit entwickelt das es genau das abdeckt was das eigene Produkt anbietet? Wird man damit nicht selbst das End-Of-Life für sein Produkt unterschreiben? "Ich mach jetzt das auch, also darfst du das nicht mehr machen!"


Was haltet ihr von diesen Lizenzvereinbarungen?
